Maider Maraña is an independent consultant on public policies on human rights, culture and heritage and non-discrimination for United Nations, local governments and different NGOs. Since 2015, she is also the coordinator of the UNESCO Chair on Cultural Landscapes and Heritage at the University of the Basque Country.
For many years she has worked for international organisations such as UNESCO, both at the Headquarters in Paris, as a Specialist in the World Heritage Programme, and at the Field Office in Uruguay. At the civil society, she served as Programme Coordinator and as the Coordinator for Culture and Development at the NGO UNESCO Centre in the Basque Country. She has taught at a number of different institutions, including the University of Deusto in Bilbao.
