Irene Josa is MSc Civil Engineer. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Civil Engineering on social topics related to civil engineering. Particularly, she is working on the analysis of the relationship between human inequality and poverty with infrastructures, on sustainability assessment and on multicriteria decision making methods. Her objective is to develop a method to assess social impacts of infrastructures in and to use it in order to take better-informed decisions at different levels (local, regional, national). Apart from her academic background as an engineer, she is now finishing a Master in Human Rights, Democracy and Globalisation from Open University of Catalonia (UOC).

Besides, she has participated in different social inclusion projects in Barcelona and is currently an active member of Engineering without Borders, supporting gender and sanitation projects in Mozambique.
